The official newspaper of the Verkhovna Rada Golos Ukrainy (Voice of Ukraine) published the law On Supreme Anticorruption Court.
The law will come into force on the next day after its publication, that is, on June 14, Ukrainian News reports.
This document suggests that President Petro Poroshenko should introduce in parliament a technical draft law on the creation of the Anti-Corruption Court.
The anticorruption court will prosecute for criminal proceedings on corruption crimes, investigated by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), only if the target of the crime or inflicted damages is 500 times or more higher than the level of subsistence level of able-bodied persons (currently - 881 thousand hryvnias).
The draft law also provides for the creation of the Public Council of International Experts, which will be able to veto candidates for the posts of judges of the Anti-Corruption Court.
The members of the Council will receive remuneration, amounting to the official salary of the judge of the Supreme Court (currently - 132.2 thousand hryvnias), as well as the compensation for accommodation and travel (for those who do not reside in Ukraine).
In addition, the document provides for establishment of additional security guarantees for the judges of the said court.
In particular, the judges of the Anti-Corruption Court, and, if necessary, the members of their families, will be provided with the 24-hour guarding from the Court Guard Service.
The judges’ apartments will be equipped with the burglar alarm and alarm buttons.
The persons, who worked in law enforcement bodies (including NABU and SAP) or held political posts within 10 years prior to appointment, cannot be appointed as the judges of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court.
